My youth journey

Updated: Aug 28, 2024

A little summary for those interested on where I started...

Short clip: Australian 2023 National Championships (Placed 1st Female team)

My sailing journey began at the age of 8 through my local club’s Learn to Sail program. I slowly developed a passion for the sport and managed to wrap my head around all the different and unique concepts that surround how to actually get the boat moving. After a few years in the Optimist I had the incredible opportunity to represent Australia in Hong Kong alongside a talented group of young female sailors who became life long friends.

In 2017, I joined my school’s team racing program, an exhilarating experience surrounded by local seasoned sailors whom I greatly admired. Team racing, known for its competitive and dynamic nature, it is characterised by its intense strategy, spirited communication and strong camaraderie among competitors. During my time in the program, we successfully qualified for two National Championships. In my final two years, I had the honour of being appointed Team Captain, a role that allowed me to lead and inspire my teammates.

By 2019, my love for sailing had expanded as I embraced the challenges of the 29er skiff. The rigorous training and racing experiences were both rewarding and enriching. Our team’s dedication paid off, leading us to represent Australia once again at the 2022 Youth Worlds in The Hague.

The taste of international competition solidified my commitment to sailing. From 2022 to 2023, our team thrived as the reigning female champions, excelling in events such as Sail SYD, Sail MLB, NSW States, and the Australian Nationals. Our journey has been one of growth, success, and an unwavering passion for the sport.

In 2023 I parted ways with the youth 29er class and sailed into the Olympic space onboard the mixed 470 Dinghy. It has been an amazing journey so far and now I am looking forward to developing as a high performance athlete and aiming towards the 2028LA Olympic Games.
