How my Sail Melbourne 2024 went...

The first competition of the Australian season took place at the Royal Brighton Bay Yacht Club, this year we had similar wind conditions and patterns for the majority of the regatta giving us the opportunity to refine our racing daily. Over the first three days of racing, we saw mid-range wind strength however, on the last day of racing we experienced high wind for the final race that would end the constituted series. We hit the jackpot with the weather during our time there, as this venue is known for having unpredictable and volatile weather patterns!
As a brand-new team combination, this event was our exciting debut to challenge ourselves against the formidable Australian fleet. While we didn't expect to win given our relative inexperience, we gained invaluable insights and a fresh set of questions to explore when training resumes. Unfortunately, we missed the podium and ended up 7th overall, not exactly what we were hoping for but we will continue pushing into the season.
With only a short break before our next competition in Sydney, we're eagerly preparing to dive into another event, with points resetting and a new track to conquer!
(For those that don't know look out for number 17 in the photos, that's me!)
